We are delighted to read Opera Now's 5-star review of Rameau' Roots (Mouret's Madness), an amazing stage-work devised by our director Guido Martin-Brandis and leader Sarah Bealby-Wright, and with thrilling movement and dance by Shona Morris... Part of the Rameau's Rising Stars project, the evening's inspiration is a fascinating report that composer Jean-Joseph Mouret was driven mad with jealousy on hearing the extraordinary demon chorus 'Brison tous les fers' in Castor et Pollux. What if Rameau had been inspired to write such music when performing Mouret's own chorus of demons in his Les amours de Ragonde years before...?
